With a little extra time on my hands these days, I’ve put more effort into practicing self-care. For one, it helps ease some of the anxiety and stress we’re probably all feeling right now. For another, without my usual hectic pace, it’s been easier to commit to spending that extra time on myself. So today I want to share my self-care essentials from Amazon. Obviously, I’ve always been a big fan of Amazon Prime, but I’m depending on it even more so these days. Some of the products I’m sharing I’ve been using for a while now and some are newer finds that I recently started trying. Also, it probably goes without saying, but I don’t buy anything without checking reviews. So, if I’m sharing it here, it has a good review rating. I used to use a sonic facial brush for cleansing my face at night, but I wanted to switch to something less likely to hold onto bacteria. This one reminded me of a more expensive brand but at a much lower price. I love that its rechargeable (my old brush ran on batteries that I never remember to buy). It also has different levels of vibration and three different types of rubber bristles (one for cleansing, one for massaging, and one for oily areas). It’s also really gentle but effective. I honestly thought it was junk the first time I used it because it didn’t feel like it was scrubbing my skin. But, when I went to rinse the cleanser off, my skin felt so clean and refreshed. It’s been over a month since I started using it and I’m still a big fan. This one is a more recent purchase. I actually had it saved in my cart for over a month debating whether or not I needed it. And I’m really glad I finally pulled the trigger. Every once in a while, I like adding facial steaming into my skincare routine. It really opens up the pores which helps get all the gunk out as well as aid your skin in absorbing products. Prior to purchasing this steamer, I did the old bowl-of-bowling-water-towel-over-the-head method. Which is fine, just more time consuming, and the steam never lasts long enough. Using the facial steamer is ridiculously easy. You fill it with water using the measuring cup it comes with, plug it in, turn it on, and in less than a minute you’ve got steam. It also turns itself off after 10 minutes to prevent overdoing it (which can loosen pores too much). I love using the steamer before applying a detoxifying mask or pore strips. You can also add to the spa experience by adding just a few drops of essential oil (like eucalyptus) to the opening of the steamer. Speaking of applying detox face masks, this one takes the cake. Chances are, you’ve already heard other people rave about it. And that’s because it works. If you don’t believe me, just check the thousands of 5-star reviews it has on Amazon. (It’s also widely available at places like Wal-Mart and Target). The clay comes in a powder form that you mix with equal parts water or apple cider vinegar (the apple cider vinegar is much more effective). Once you apply the mask, you can feel it tighten your skin as it cleanses your pores. I typically use it once a week to really clean out more pores or if my skin starts to breakout. And, to deliver even more bang for your buck, you can also use it to detoxify your hair (especially if you tend to use a lot of products) or add it to a bath for an all-over detox. I also found these cute headbands and this facial mask mixing set for when I’m doing masks. This one may the greatest thing I’ve ever bought on Amazon. It’s literally just a facial roller that you pop in the freezer and then roll on your face. Simple but oh so wonderful. Ice rolling reduces puffiness, minimizes the appearance of pores, increases circulation and skin elasticity, and helps tone facial muscles. It also feels super soothing. I love using it in the morning to wake up or after I’ve used a facial mask. They’re also great to use after applying serums or to soothe your skin when you exfoliate. Honestly, I think it’s so addicting because it feels so good. I keep mine in my freezer at all times so that I can grab and roll whenever I feel like I could use it. Gel eye patches come in tons of forms. I’ve bought, used, and loved these 24K Gold eye patches and these matcha infused ones. I love them both, however, I would say I like the matcha ones a little more. They’re slighter bigger than the 24K ones and a little thinner, a combination that I think helps them stay in place a little better. You can find eye patches infused with any number of ingredients to combat any eye problem. Generally speaking, they’re great for reducing under eye circles and puffiness. The gold and matcha ones that I use also contain ingredients to combat fine lines and wrinkles. Keep them in the fridge for extra cooling relief. Over the past year, I’ve noticed the texture of my skin become a lot drier. My usual facial moisturizers just weren’t cutting it anymore and I needed something to really quench my skin. I came across this ultra-rich cream and immediately purchased it. With over 5,000 5-star reviews and at under $15, I figured it was worth a try. I don’t regret it. I’ve been using it as a night cream and it’s significantly helped keep my skin hydrated. It’s also amazing for healing cracked cuticles and keeping your feet soft. Plus, it’s primarily formulated with ingredients derived from plants, so you can feel good about using it. For more of my favorite products, check out the Beauty Favorites section here!
