So many wonderful things to look forward to in the coming months. The weather warming up, flowers starting to bloom, trees turning green again, and, of course, the Spring fashions. After spending all winter bundled up (fashionably, of course), I’m alway excited to check out what’s new and fresh for the next season. So I’m breaking down the Spring 2021 fashion trends expected to take over Instagram this year. Plus, I’m including a few trends I’m not here for and hope won’t be sticking around. “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” Yeah, we know Miranda, but florals and Spring just go together like Beyonce and Jay-Z. This season, florals seem to be going in one of two directions: big and bold, or cottage core. So, basically, you get both ends of the spectrum. And since this one is a trend that tends to come back around every Spring, you may already have some trendy pieces hanging in your closet. This trend really started in the winter with sweater cut outs, but it looks like it will be picking up steam in the Spring. In addition to cut-out and keyhole details in tops, you’ll also see them in pants, dresses, and skirts. This style will also range from the extreme to the subtle. So, even if you prefer a more modest style, you’ll be able to rock this trend. I think this trend really started last Spring but, due to the pandemic, lost a little bit of steam as people turned more towards lounge wear. Now it appears to be making a comeback. If you’re anything like me, most of my clothing purchases last year were casual and comfy styles to be worn around the house. I’m itching to add more dressy items to my wardrobe, and this will definitely be one of them. Similar to the differing floral patterns for Spring, color pallets also appear to be at opposite ends of the spectrum. On one side, designers are embracing everything bright and bold. Think bubblegum pinks and sunny yellows. On the other side, we have designers leaning towards pastels and muted tones like mint green and lavender. Either way, expect to see lots of color for Spring. It started last year with the return of flares, and an abundance of the straight leg and mom jean styles. Now it seems designers and fashion editors are taking those trends a step further with pants that are baggy, wide-legged, or loose-fitting. Whereas over the past couple of years we saw a lot of designers, influencers, and stylists pairing skinny jeans or leggings with over-sized or boxy tops, this trend will bring the reverse. Expect to see form-fitting tops paired with oversized pants. Some fashion editors expect pants with a visible “G-String” built right to be big this year. I’m saying no thanks on this one. I didn’t think it looked cute 15 years ago, and I don’t think it’s cute now. As a petite girl with curves, I’m not feeling this trend. Oversized dresses and tops tend to look frumpy on me. Also, coming out of winter, I’m not looking for clothes to hide in. Another fashion statement form my high school years that appears to be making a comeback. But high-waisted pants have forever ruined me. I can’t go back to low-rise, I just can’t. For more Spring 2021 Fashion Trends style finds, check out my Shop the Blog page or follow me on Instagram!
